Lady Zephyr started the evening for the group with an amazing demonstration on Fire Play in a scene. She discussed and demonstrated how to safely use fire in a scene, how to put together the swabs and torches, and how to be prepared for the unexpected possible problems. Then she allowed any and all who wanted to experience the sensation to join her at the front and "set them afire". Those that participated expressed a real satisfaction in trying the experience, describing it as "having a warm wet towel" laid on the skin.
The evening continued with multiple scenes going on at the same time...everything from two handed Florentine flogging to a hot wax and knife scene to a very hot plain ole spanking.
Attendance reached the 100 mark again.
F.L.O.G.'s regular social/play party was held on May 31, 2003 - a change from the group's normal 4th Saturday. Nearly 120 people were in attendance to help with an early celebration of the anniversary of the birth (June 2) of the Marquis de Sade, the original sadist.
The evening also marked the third installment of the Bondage Institute. Our DM's "tied" the first two sessions together and taught those who attended how to make a Karada, a rope dress. This session utilized all the knots and techniques previously used. They discussed the utility of the dress and how it could be worn under daily clothes, how it could be adjusted for all body types and how it could be used for further bondage and suspension. It was a very well received class with lots of laughter and squeals when Master Lynn joined in with a well placed piece of ice added to a very hog-tied sub.
The group had a new vendor join the usual crew of monthly vendors - Lord Steven from Springfield, Missouri made the long drive up to show his beautifully hand-tooled wooden handled floggers.
There were several intense scenes during the evening and some lighter moments as well, but the equipment was used all through the night. The energy level was so high that it was difficult to have to close the evening and it made for a very charged evening. It was particularly appreciated that lots of people stayed to help take everything down. It was a record for speed to close...a good night all the way around.
June saw 2 events for F.L.O.G. - first a joint picnic on June 14 sponsored by F.L.O.G. and PEP in celebration of the 262nd anniversary of the birth of the Marquis de Sade. About 50 members of the two groups came together at a shelter at the beautiful Babler State Park. The weather cooperated with a gorgeous summer day. The combined food was more than enough for everyone and no one left hungry. Everyone had a great lazy summer afternoon and enjoyed the "show and tell" session with new toys and ideas. All-in-all a great afternoon.
The second event of June was the regular monthly social/play party, Saturday June 28. It was a bitter sweet evening in that we all got to enjoy another wonderful demonstration from Lady Zephyr entitled "Pain in a Pinch - Clamps, Clips, Clothespins, Etc.", but also had to say goodbye to the lady as she was leaving town shortly after the evening. As always, Zephyr's presentation was lively, fun, educational and entertaining. Those that were brave enough to try something new got to experience the unique sensation of a zipper (for those who don't know what that is, it's clothespins attached to sensitive areas and pulled off by an attached string - OUCH). After the demo, the dungeon was opened to the many people who attended (over 100). The dungeon was active all night and everyone seemed to enjoy the rest of the evening with their new found knowledge.
