Recaps : Q3
A big welcome to all the newcomers! It was a great turnout and we're always excited to see new faces. Congratulations to all of you who finally decided to venture out into this lifestyle. We know that it's sometimes a difficult thing to do, and hopefully everyone here at FLOG made your evening worthwhile.
Support Your Local Vendors
Thank you kitten for bringing your wonderful candles! For those that didn't attend, you missed a great opportunity to purchase some of the best scene candles in St. Louis. What makes a candle a "scene candle"? Well, all of kitten's candles are handmade. They are only made with color, and the paraffin is slightly cut with bee's wax. What you end up with are candles in an assortment of colors that heat at a relatively low temp. For those into wax play, these are ideal!
Harold attended with his handmade oak and pine paddles. These are stained in various shades and are coated several times with a polyurethane product. This provides you with a very scratch resistant toy that doesn't have any rough or splintered edges. His paddles are made in different shapes and sizes to accommodate the largest or smallest of .hands. Any of his paddles can be custom-made.
Chain mail is here! We had a wonderful surprise when a local craftsman attended the party with his handmade chain mail shirt and glove. It's incredible how thousands and thousands of metal ringlets can be connected to make something that you can wear. Thank you Flowers for sharing!
Event Discussion
There are two separate FLOG events that will be coming up soon and we took a short time out to discuss each one.
The first one is "This Old Dungeon" and will be happening in September. This is geared towards not only building furniture for the parties, but also offering an opportunity for the men to get better acquainted with each other and doing a good deed for the bdsm community. It's like FLOG's version of the Amish philosophy, Raising of the Barn. We will be building spanking benches and encourage any man in the bdsm scene to pitch in a helping hand. This will be a great opportunity for those that don't have carpenter building skills, but would like to learn how to build their own bench. In addition, all those (including women) that would like a bench built for themselves, can simply place their order and the furniture will be built for them. They will only be responsible for the cost of material. More information on this will be posted soon!
The other event has been in the making for some time now and is strictly for women. The FLOG Women's Retreat, "Festival of the Thorns" is a Fall event that is meant to bring the women in the bdsm scene together. The dates are Oct. 15th to Oct. 17th, and held in a Southern Missouri location. The log cabins are fully furnished, including a large stone fireplace. The next FLOG Women's group is on August 6th, and this will be your last opportunity to reserve your spot. Don't miss this wonderful opportunity to enjoy a relaxing, fun-filled weekend with other women in this lifestyle! For more information on the Women's group or this event, please e-mail FLOG_StLouis@yahoo.com.
Call For Volunteers
Thank you to those that helped with the set-up and running of this last party. We honestly wouldn't be able to do it without you. However, we need more of you to pitch in a helping hand, and in order to facilitate this, we will be passing around a Signup Sheet at the next party. To run these parties and the group takes a tremendous amount of work, and we need to give the regular people a break to enjoy themselves at the party that they have worked so hard to maintain. With the amount of people that attend the FLOG party, it shouldn't be a difficult task to find a little additional help. We will be looking for about 6 people each month to accomplish this. Please e-mail FLOG_StLouis@yahoo.com to signup for the August 28th party.
Stuff In The Works
Well, we've known for some time now that even though it's great to have a place to go each month to play, socialize and meet some great people, the mood setting needed to be enhanced. In hopes of providing all of you with more ambiance, we will be adding the following at the upcoming parties:
- Brass and black floor lamps have been purchased for the scene area. They will be placed in two separate corners of that area and will cast a soft light up towards the ceiling. The overhead florescent lights will be shut off.
- Skirted tablecloths will be placed on three tables in the scene area for people to lay out their toys.
- Tablecloths will be placed on all the tables in the sitting/socializing area. (Note to UltraDomme: We've noticed how you like latex outfits so we'll be keeping an eye on you. We'll know that you're contemplating a new outfit if we catch you fondling the tablecloths!)
- Two small white candles will be placed on each table in the sitting/socializing area. The overhead florescent lights will be shut off and the candles will be the only source of lighting. Please folks, these are meant to add light and not for scenes. For scene candles, see the above vendor mention.
- Three black skirted vinyl tablecloths will be placed on 3 tables in the rear of the room. One will be for the Check-In desk and the other two will be for the Vendor tables.
Tip Of The Day
Nylons are great for transporting floggers! If you cut the legs off of some regular old ladies nylons and pull your flogger up through it, it will keep the tails from twisting up with other floggers AND keep the fabric from bending. Keeps them nice and tight for your next chance to play!
Well, yet another successful party under our belts. As we slowly grow, it's obvious that we're becoming more like a family than just people who attend a BDSM event. We've become a true community within a community, where people support each other, care for each other, and looking forward to embrace all those new taking their first steps. Thank you to everyone who have shown by example what FLOG is all about and what it represents.
Along the lines of "Thank You", we'd like to make special mentions of those that have really worked hard to make the party a success. A gracious bow to kitten for helping with the table set-ups, making the candles, and getting them to the party even though she couldn't stay. And to mahlai, dumplin, and rachael for working that forever busy front desk. You did a wonderful job of keeping everything organized! And three cheers for the men who helped bring that unyielding gallows down the spiral stairs and then back up. And to janie for giving Master Michael a helping hand in fixing the cross. And last, but not least, Buzz for his continuous help in any area that needs his assistance.
The added tablecloths, candles, and lamps transformed the room. The soft lighting in the scene area cast just enough light to play safely, without making you feel as if you were in 7-11. The overall mood in the room seemed to be relaxed and subdued as the flicker of the candles bounced shadows on the walls. And each of you have yourselves to thank for the room transition. Because of your continued support for the group, it allows for the purchase of needed items as well as the little things that make a difference.
Rich started off the evening with a discussion on vet wrap. For those that are not aware of this nifty stuff, it is stretchy material used to wrap the ankles of horses. It comes in a multitude of colors, doesn't need a tie-off or clip to secure it, and is great for a quick bondage scene. The rolls cost $2.50/piece and can be found in most tack shops. Caution here folks, it's great for bondage, but DO NOT use it to cover the nose or mouth. Also use care to not stretch the wrap tightly, as it can cause numbness and hinder circulation.
We had a few newcomers, which is always wonderful, including a few who work at InkMasters Tattoo/Piercing Shop. They were extremely pleased and excited about the party and are looking forward to attending more in the future. We have approached them to possibly provide a discussion on piercings and tattoos for the group! There has been some expressed interest from both them and FLOG attendees to provide piercings to anyone interested at the next FLOG party. For those that would be interested, send us an e-mail at FLOG_StLouis@yahoo.com to let us know.
We had a number of very nice scenes for our viewing pleasure, everything from light flogging, waxing, and some very well done caning. Have you ever seen 2 submissives caned to music like a ballet? Well, there Saturday night sure did! For those of you that are new to the public scening aspect of this lifestyle, please know that you don't have to have 20 years experience to play, nor have the best toys in town. Just play safe and enjoy yourselves!
A little reminder here folks. If you are sitting at the first two tables by the scene area, please keep your voices and distractions down. Usually these two tables are for those that are truly interested in watching all the scenes or one particular scene going on. It becomes increasingly difficult for both the scene participants and the observers to focus, if people are talking above a whisper, shuffling papers, or checking out toys. Please remember proper etiquette and either refrain from these activities or move off to another section of the room.
We are looking forward to another eventful party on Sept. 25th. In the meantime, play safe and keep a watch out for a posting of events in October! If you have any questions, please e-mail us at FLOG_StLouis@yahoo.com.
We had a great time at the last FLOG party and met some really great new people who seemed to feel comfortable right off the bat. We all spent time getting to know each other and bouncing around ideas for the upcoming Halloween party and future parties in the next millennium. For those of you who didn't make it, you missed a great opportunity to buy cuffs for $22-$26/set!
We of course said our goodbyes to Buz. He will be missed dearly and was a true asset to the group. Hopefully he won't forget his family back here in St. Louis.
- What:
- FLOG Halloween Party
- When:
- Oct. 23, starting at 8pm
- Where:
- Brentwood American Legion Hall
It's the same group social/play party, but with a twist! It's the same great people. It's the same opportunity to meet and socialize. It's the same chance to play. But we're making it more of a party!
As always, FLOG is open to anyone that is seriously interested in the bdsm lifestyle. This party is no different. This would be a great opportunity to dress in that leather outfit that you've always wanted to wear out in public, but never had the nerve. Think of it this way, the worst anyone could say is, "Boy, aren't they a little old to be out trick-or-treating?"
There will be no holding back on this party. There will be food to eat, free drawings for those that dress in either fetish attire or costumes, and a piercing discussion. As usual, we only ask for a $5 donation and this party is no exception. We only ask for what it takes to run the group.
We will be expanding out the room to offer more social area. The play area will be sectioned off, however we will still have the furniture to accomodate 4 scenes at one time as usual. There will be another party in the upstairs of the building, but that won't affect ours. Let's make sure though that we stay in the area that will be provided for us. We're not sure if the other party would find humor in the Grim Reaper walking around with a crop!
Bring your costume and your toy bag, and get ready for 5 hours of fun! Looking forward to seeing you all there!
